Birding the Net
Thanks to all of you who made Birding the Net such a big success. Over 9,500 answered the challenge to compete for prizes in our unprecedented social media campaign, scouring hundreds of web sites to find 34 species in a virtual “big month” from October 10 through November 7, 2011. Birds fluttered, hopped, and soared across more than 100 websites, and each species collected brought participants one step closer to winning awesome prizes.
In the meantime, Audubon thanks prize partners Lindblad Expeditions, Canon, Nikon, Woolrich, and Green Mountain Digital, and the hundreds of websites and to blogs that gave ad space and birdhouses to the cause. And special thanks to ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners who generously donated creative expertise and time to create the game.
This innovative campaign, was about more than fun, however. It is one of the ways that Audubon is sharing the excitement of birding with you and millions of others. And we’re hoping it inspired you to experience the real world of birds, too – and to join us in our work to protect them and the planet we share.
